Chapel Services

Chapel Services this weekend and call for readers.

Sunday 19 October (Twenty-second Sunday after Trinity).
10.15 a.m. Holy Communion. Dr Holmes, the Dean of Chapel, will be looking
at the first few verses of the Epistle of James.
5.45 p.m. Choral Evensong – the Choir are singing a famous anthem, ‘Evening
Hymn’ by Balfour Gardner as well as Murrill in E for the canticles. The
preacher is Father Alexander Lucie-Smith, a Roman Catholic priest,
currently based at Fisher House (the Cambridge University Catholic
Chaplaincy) who has spent many years working in Africa.

We would be very grateful for volunteers from the graduate student
community to lead the prayers on Sunday evenings at Evensong and also to
join the lesson readers rota (I appreciate that it is not easy for students
living out of college to come in to read at early services, but it is
perfectly alright to say you can only manage morning prayers – 8.15 a.m. –
or evening prayers – 7.00 p.m. – or even just Sundays). People willing to
serve at communions (mostly on Sunday mornings) are also needed.
