Ents Things 10-16 October

I hope everyone had an excellent weekend! Herewith this week’s ents schedule. Let’s hope something strikes your fancy.

Wednesday, 12 October

“Speed Meeting,” MCR, 8pm – Ok, so you kind of know a lot of peoples’ names and you’ve asked all of the perfunctory questions – ‘Where are you from?’ ‘What do you study?’ ‘Ohhh, that’s SO interesting!’ YAWN. It’s time to reallly get to know your college mates. You’ll get a list of questions and a few minutes with each person. Have you ever wondered if that MBA guy would rather have a cage fight with Steven Seagal or a lion? Now’s your chance. FREE wine and nibbles too!

Friday, 14 October
Owlstone Party! Owlstone Croft, 9pm

Crofters, your moment has arrived! It’s time to liven up that place, yeah? Everyone else in college: c’mon, it’s actually not that far away! We’ll have drinks, nibbles and music. For the ‘gamers’ amongst you, I hear there’s a pretty awesome games table too.

Also on the docket…the second QEnts bop! Same deal as last time, but everyone must pay at the door.

Saturday, 15 October

It’s a full day, this one!

First, Day trip to Ely! Ely is a very short train ride away, yet many people never visit. It’s story book adorable and a fine example of a medieval cathedral town. Home of Oliver Cromwell, Ely boasts a storied political history. We’ll meander through the quaint streets, visit the Cathedral and maybe Cromwell’s house if there’s time. We’ll also stop by a pub for lunch. This event is in conjunction with Wolfson College, so it’s a great chance to meet other students.

You must sign up with me in advance. You can email me at kristen.klebba@gmail.com or find me around college.

Later in the day…

Ceilidh – Fitzpat, 7pm

Ok, I know some of you have absolutely no idea what a ceilidh is. No matter! No one does. Even Scottish people don’t ceilidh very well! Everyone will look ridiculous and it will be very fun. This sassy grandad knows what it’s all about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1zS3ecikAE&feature=related I’m not sure that’s ceilidh actually, but that guy is awesome, so whatever.

Advance tickets are available from either Rob or me. £2 for Queens’/£3 for non-Queens. Ticket price will increase by £1 at the door.

Sunday, 16 October:
Historical Tour of Queens’ with Dr. Robin Walker – meet at the plodge, 11am & 2:30pm

This tour is epic and is one of my favourite freshers events. Dr. Walker has keys to places you never knew existed. There’s peepholes, alcoves and secrets galore! There is, to be sure, an actual skeleton in a closet. Spaces are going quickly, so reserve now.

Cheers,
Kristen
