Welfare in Queens’ College operates to provide support for you on a wide range of issues. The MCR welfare officer provides a direct point of contact who you can speak to in confidence about any issues you may be having throughout the year. Over the course of the year we aim to run events focused on addressing problems you may be having with your studies (e.g. supervisor issues) and also events to help you de-stress. The MCR also provides sexual health provisions located in the labelled cupboard in the MCR kitchen with free condoms and pregnancy tests. Please let us know if these run out.
As well as your MCR welfare officer, the college has a highly trained and experienced team of welfare advisers, and a registered nurse. The Welfare Advisers are Richard Geddis (DD2), Jenny Schiller (Health Centre) and Rev. Tim Harling (DD1). The College Health Centre can be found in Cripps Court, between the BB and CC staircases. The College Nurse, Sister Emma Dellar, (Health Centre) is an experienced nurse who is able to support with a wide range of physical and mental health conditions, injuries and minor illnesses, give well-being advice and information and liase with other health professionals. Out of hours it may be possible to contact one of the Welfare Team through the Porters’ Lodge, or Duty Tutor, if deemed necessary.
